| AXIOM User Data is a wonderful thing. However, we always want more, more,
more. Imagine how much information one
could put in an Excel workbook. We are
now only limited by our imagination.
With the help of the programmers from Midwest, C&M Corporation was
able to create a user data field user entry routine that would launch an
Excel workbook based on the Customer number.
C&M's Customer Maintenance User Data screen looks like: |

| Note the "Cust Excel" user data field. As soon as that cell is selected, Excel is
instantiated (if it is not already opened) and the following file appears: |

| The SMART contribution to this implementation is as follows.
First, a customized template was developed to meet the needs of the
organization. As with all of SMART
Excel files, the yellow background cells are user editable fields. The blue background cells are calculated
fields, and the green background are fields that are populated from data
automatically extracted from AXIOM.
The green fields are automatically updated nightly. This update includes other user data
fields as well as shipment and backlog information. Also note that from time to time there is
a need to refine the template to fit changing requirements. SMART also has a utility that extracts
all information from each Excel file, stores it temporarily, and then build
all new files using an updated template. |

| Additionally, SMART provides another summary document that
allows users to edit these templates without first logging into AXIOM (saving
valuable AXIOM licenses). This file is
part of the standard CART reporting menu and looks like: |
